Eva, a licensed natural health practitioner, has always appreciated the flavor and many health benefits that kombucha has. She first discovered her passion for home brewing in the '80s as a teenager in Germany. After immigrating to the US in 1998, she made kombucha for years at home for her own enjoyment.
In 2007, during a trip back home, she discovered that kombucha can often be brewed with herbal teas. Inspired to combine her passion for kombucha with the healing properties of herbs, she immediately started fusing the two. In 2008 she decided to launch Eva's Herbucha and bring her creations to the market. Today, her Portland, Oregon-based kombucha company, Eva’s Herbucha, produces refreshing beverages loaded with herbal ingredients and a range of health benefits.
In 2018, Eva made it her mission to creatively use the SCOBYs (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) produced with each gallon of kombucha – of which she had made thousands. She tried a variety of things, from fried SCOBYs similar to onion rings, to savory salad toppings similar to bacon bits. After many trials, she perfected the unique candy and launched Eva’s Cultured Candy. 11 years after Eva's Herbucha's launch and many thousands of gallons of kombucha later, Eva's Cultured Candy was born.Eva's Cultured Candy's philosophy is to treat Mother Earth gently and with respect. The packaging materials are either made from recycled material and recyclable or biodegradable.And as a member of 1% for the Planet we contribute one percent of our annual sales directly to Oregon Environmental Council, Oceans Initiative , Rozalia Project and Big Life Foundation - four approved nonprofit environmental organizations in the network of 1% for the Planet.

What is Eva's Cultured Candy?
Eva’s Cultured Candy is a delicious, gummy bear-like treat made from fresh ingredients in Portland, Oregon. Each piece is carefully crafted using SCOBYs (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast grown while brewing kombucha) and coated with fair-trade, organic sugar.
Developed in small batches to ensure freshness and quality, each piece is handled with great care. The candy, never heated above 110 degrees, maintains many similar health benefits as kombucha -- probiotics, antioxidants and detoxifying acids. They are vegan, gluten-free, raw, organic and delectable. With a variety of flavors, from Apple Pie to Zesty Lavender, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
In order to produce a high quality product, we use only ingredients which meet our standards. The cane sugar is certified organic and fair trade. So is the tea in which our SCOBYs grow for 3 to 4 weeks. It takes time, love and patience to make our kombucha candies. But it is worth it because you can taste it in every little bite.
